Meristem Communities is committed to creating Places for People™—spaces where life isn’t just lived but truly cherished. They recently opened the doors to Indigo this Summer 2024, their latest neighborhood in Fort Bend County, Texas, that’s breaking the mold of traditional suburban living. Through a collaboration with us, Envoy Technologies Inc., a leader in electric vehicle (EV) car-sharing services, Meristem Communities, and Envoy are bringing a unique amenity to Indigo: on-demand access to a Rivian R1T electric truck. But that’s just the beginning of what makes Indigo special.
A Neighborhood Designed for People, Not Cars
Indigo isn’t just another suburban development—it’s a vision for a future where communities are designed for people, not cars. Located near Texas 99 and U.S. 90, Indigo spans 235 acres and is being developed with a focus on pedestrian-friendly living. The homes, which range from 939 square-foot cottages to nearly 3,000 square-foot residences, feature rear or side garages, leaving the front open for pedestrian-safe areas. Imagine large front porches and stoops facing green spaces instead of roads, creating a safer and more welcoming environment for everyone.
One of the standout features of Indigo is the network of pedestrian-only linear parks, known as mews, which will be the crown jewel of the community. These mews are designed to foster connection and outdoor living, with amenities like outdoor kitchens, seating areas, play spaces, herb gardens, fruit trees, and lawn games. There’s even a yoga lawn, a dog park, a bocce ball court, a natural playground, and hopscotch areas—everything you need to enjoy a rich, outdoor lifestyle.
Sustainable Living with Envoy's EV Car-Sharing
Indigo's partnership with Envoy brings a modern twist to the concept of community living by providing residents with access to a Rivian R1T electric truck via our simple mobile app, Envoy Mobility. Available to book by the hour or day, this EV is perfect for those who want the convenience of a vehicle without the hassle and expense of ownership—especially a second car. Charging stations are conveniently located on-site and available at no extra cost.
“Indigo is an amazing community,” said Envoy co-founder Aric Ohana. “Its founders envisioned Indigo to have conveniences that make life easier, and to have spaces and events that bring happiness and meaning to residents’ everyday lives. Our EV sharing platform offers a unique amenity for these residents that will further propel the community into a future of convenience.”
This collaboration marks Envoy’s debut in Texas and adds to their growing presence in 23 states across the country. From California to New York and Washington D.C., Envoy is redefining what it means to have “Mobility as an Amenity.”
Connecting with Nature and Community
Indigo’s design goes beyond just homes and cars; it’s about creating a lifestyle that prioritizes access to nature and community. With 60 percent of the development dedicated to trails, including a 25-acre lake for swimming, fishing, and kayaking, residents will have ample opportunities to connect with the outdoors. The 42-acre community farm, set to open next month, will feature orchards, vegetable crops, laying hens, and agricultural educational opportunities, making it easy for residents to engage with sustainable living.
“Access to nature and trails are the number one most desired amenity right now,” said Scott Snodgrass, founding partner of Meristem Communities. “We’re responding to that desire.”
A Vision for the Future
Phase one of construction at Indigo, set to be completed in early 2025, includes 261 homes built by Empire Communities, David Weekly Homes, and Highland Homes. Home prices will range from $200,000 to over $500,000, offering a variety of options for different lifestyles and needs.
In addition to residential spaces, construction has begun on a 12-acre mixed-use town center that will host a variety of retailers. The first building under construction is a general store, expected to open in fall 2024. Over the next few months, Indigo will be adding more structures designed for small businesses, which will be available for purchase, not lease, giving entrepreneurs a unique opportunity to own their space within this vibrant community.
Indigo isn’t just a place to live—it’s a place to thrive. With its people-first design, innovative amenities, and strong connection to nature, Indigo is setting a new standard for what suburban living can be.

Redefining suburban living with a pedestrian-first approach is an inspiring way to create stronger, more connected communities. For those looking to transition to neighborhoods like Indigo, selling a current home quickly can make the move easier. Exploring companies that buy homes for cash can be a practical option, offering a fast and hassle-free sale without the need for extensive preparations. It’s a great way to focus on settling into a vibrant community designed for people and connection.
Indigo in Richmond, Texas, is a game-changer for suburban living with its pedestrian-first approach and sustainable living features. It’s great to see communities like this redefining the future of neighborhoods. This idea reminds me of how important it is to create spaces that foster connection and community, much like the need for thoughtful solutions when looking to sell an absentee owner house in San Diego. Just as Indigo enhances convenience for its residents, selling a house can also be made easier with the right strategies and support.
